Here's another reason for an apple a day...
A recent study (by Dr. Lui) in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry suggested that apple extracts may inibit the size of mammary tumors in rats.

Well, I have always known that apples are good, and I crunch on them all the time. :) I make apple salad, too, grating apples and adding honey, oats, and walnuts.

My husband is a great lover of apples and he actually lloks for different varieties...sometimes the green ones then the totally red ones...the ones that come from newzealand....and then he'll sit and eat and talk about the taste.....as long as he is eating healthy...I don't mind at all...:)

My grandma was a great believer in apples; she must have eaten two or three a day. As she had dentures, she would give the peeled skin to me, and then she'd slice them up for munching.

That sounds delicious. Do you add lemon juice to the grated apple to stop oxidation (the apple goes brown)?

I am not that big on apples to tell you the truth. I only like a couple of varities, and when I do have them I prefer to chop them up into salads.
Oh, I love apples! I knew they were great besides being good for the teeth. There are many varieties. Which is better? Fuji? Washington? Gala? Granny Smith? That'd really help us all out.

As the saying goes, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. :D
