On another board, a lady said that the decreased amount of protein in people's diets is causing problems with depression. She said that to a woman who says her daughter doesn't eat meat or drink milk. The lady basically told her that her daughter needs to eat meat for her mental health...
I contested that and said that people are probably eating more meat than ever. Meat is expensive and most people, historically, couldn't afford to eat it as much as we (I mean the general society, lol, not me) do now. My mom even told me that most people she knew only ate an actual portion of mammal meat on Sundays. Most other days, they ate beans and grains for protein. On Fridays, they would eat fish sometimes.
And I'm pretty sure that I learned that in Western Civilization class, that only the rich have been able to eat meat 3 times a day like people do now.
Who's right?
