now that my hound is living in Melbourne, I think the winter's gonna be a little harder to handle for her. I want to get her a coat now if I can.

does anyone know a good online store? or a shop in Melbourne? or Brisbane (cos I'm visiting soon)?

The RSPCA superstore in Springwood, Brisbane has a HUGE range of coats for your furry critter. We were there last year to get a new one for our latest additon. They range in price from reasonable to incredibly expensive... but I suppose it depends on what you are after. I assume that profits from the store sales do eventually get to the animals in some way, so I would rather shop there than at a privately owned or chain store, online or otherwise.

Another option would be to visit the RSPCA at Fairfield as they stock some there (or did last time I was there) and also the AWL in Coombabah (gold coast) have a good store at their refuge.

If worst comes to worst and you dont get a chance to purchase one and have the ability to use a sewing machine, a metre or so (depending on the size of your hound) of polar fleece material will do the job. Our two oldest are still wearing their coats I made about 7 years ago and they are going strong (and you can choose the colour or patterns they are made of).
