Hi, I am Monna, I have tried a few times to remain a vegetarian in my lifetime, so far I made it for six months vegan but then had a relapse with the new job and having to fix the menues that the state requires us to prepare for these teens. I know that is not much of an excuse but the veggies are a bit limited here. I am working on getting these teens (boys at this house) to at least taste some of the veggies. A few have liked the ones I fixed but most still pass up on the dishes. I am also buying as many veggies as I can when my husband and I are working, (as my limited petty cash budget will allow).
We are the relief staff for two homes, one female and one male. We work/live one week at each house and then are off for two weeks, then start all over again. All expenses are paid, its a great job, but I just need to convience them to get rid of a lot of the processed foods that are loaded with salt/fat/ect, and the junk food that they give these kids, its unreal! The primary staff at the boys home are meat and potatoes males, and the female house is ran by a real southern bell and her husband, lots of fat meat and potatoes and lots of desserts everday! The females do a little better with the veggies but not much better.
My husband supports me, but he is not a vegetarian. I will go for now, wish me luck on getting these teens in the two houses I work at to at least consider eating the fruit and veggies!
Monna~~back on the wagon!
